These are field recordings in and around Ipswich. In 2011 the British Library compiled a sound map of the UK and I contributed a fair few sounds from Ipswich and London over the year. I've tried to get sounds that are characteristic of what goes on in the particular part of town. Out in the rural parts that means birds and the occasional piece of farm machinery. Closer to the town centre it can be football practice
Ipswich is the county town of Suffolk in East Anglia, a compact town of about 130,000 people surrounded by rural East Anglia. It's got a good mix of soundscapes balanced between town and country. Most of the recordings are binaural, which comes over best on headphones.
